London Theatre Blog Launch

After weeks of testing and fine-tuning I’m pleased to announce that this site is finally ready for its official launch! So it is with great pride and pleasure that I give you London Theatre Blog, a webblog devoted to the study and practice of performance.

London Theatre Blog aims to stimulate discussion, interest and analysis on contemporary performance practice in London and beyond.

Open invitations to guest writers for the submission of short performance-related articles will play a key role in transforming the blog into a rich and engaging resource for anyone interested in performance.

In addition to the weekly blog entries and feature articles, there will be frequent interviews with practioners, performance reviews, information on up-coming performance events, opportunities for collaborations in performance and a chance to network with the growing international online theatre community.

Thank you for your support, and please get in touch with ideas, articles or anything you’d like to say through the contact section.

    Hi,

I am visiting London between oct 12 and 16. I already booked for Blue Man Group on Friday. What else would you recommend for Sat and Sun night? I.e: which day should I chose from Shortcuts 2006?

  • Katalin said:

    Any other ideas?

  • Andrew Eglinton said:

Katalin, Shortcuts Saturday night bill should be good. There’s no show on Sunday. On Sunday I suggest going to one of the bigger London venues like the National Theatre or the Barbican for example. I recommend this site for listings of West End and Off West-End shows:

    Hope this helps.

thanks a lot! i am not really interested in mainstream theatre, but rather fringe or off.

what would you recommend to see?

  • Andrew Eglinton said:

    Katalin,

Since taste is an arbitrary entity, the best I can do is give you a brief list of fringe shows - most of which I have not seen and therefore cannot pass judgment on. It’s going to be pot luck I’m afraid:

    - Follies - Landor Theatre (sat + sun)
    - The Memory of Water - Hens and Chickens Theatre (sat)
    - Seduced - Finsborough Theatre (sat + sun)
    - Rhymes, Reasons and Bomb Ass Beatz - Oval House (sat)
    - Up the Gary - Theatre 503 (sat + sun)
    - Writers Block: A week of new world work - Tristan Bates Theatre (sat)
    - Slava’s Snowshow - New Wimbledon Theatre (sat)

thank you so much! that helps.

Best of luck with your venture here.
    “More better theatre blogs now!”
My own site is a bit too peripatetic to be called a theatre blog, but better informed, more nuanced comment on theatre - of the kind that I don’t provide! - is always welcome. See Paul Miller’s latest post on the subject, pmiller67.blogspot.com.

    Stephen,

Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment.

I’ll have a look at your blog tonight.

What a beautiful and complete blog! I’d like to get in touch - hoping you still accept external contributions - but the contact form doesn’t appear in the contact form…
Thanks in advance for the kind reply!
