In all honesty I only remember those pieces that i found particularly interesting and wish to find more about. Steven Berkoff was at the performance I attended (At the same venue you watched the performance) and was suitably impressed and "Chilled" as he put it. I am not knocking your writing i am simply putting in a defense for a piece that was worthy of more than a simple paragraph that has not fully captured the essence of the play.

I certainly did watch the play - I watched all three shows that night - and I stand by what I said at the time. But maybe you've seen the piece more recently than I? (If not, then I can only applaud the power of your memory).

Additional:

“Still raining out. That’s six days now...
trying to wash this place away like in the Bible”

In a city full of sin, Rueben searches for his Angel to come and take him away.

This piece is more than a mere 'Hostage' situation. The qoute and tagline above is intented to compliment the above post.

I find the review of 'Angel' a little too simplistic. It begs the question whether Stephe Harrop even watched the play. I watched the piece and was not wowed by performances rather the detail and poetic precision in the dialogue and the twists of the plot. It is not simply a play concenring a "Hostage" situation. The idea that the characters were "conversing at unlikely and unnecessary length" is misleading. The dialogue in this piece does not just serve to forward plot but is written in a style that compliments the disturbing and beautiful revalations found as the play progresses. Without the rich and detailed writing we would simply be left with a 10 minute 'supernatural hostage' piece that would be nothing new.
