My Name is Rachel Corrie in Sydney

My Name is Rachel Corrie is currently in a new production in Sydney, Australia (read the review here). The play was co-written by Alan Rickman and Katherine Viner based on material from Rachel Corrie’s diary.

It sparked controversy in its UK and US tours telling the story of the young American peace activist who opposed the US-backed Israeli military occpuation of the Gaza Strip. You can watch a brief interview here in which Rachel Corrie talks about her experience in Gaza shortly before her death on March 14th 2003. Also, see this section of ‘The Killing Zone‘ produced for the Channel 4 program Dispatches.
