Yang-May Ooi interviews ‘Walter Plinge’

A couple of months back, I got an email from Yang-May Ooi, novelist and east/west culture blogger over at Fusion View, about the prospect of her interviewing ‘Walter Plinge’, a retired English Rep actor. I was immediately drawn to the idea and thought it would be particularly interesting to hear his thoughts on the mid-1950’s and the emergence of the so-called ‘Kitchen sink drama’ and the ‘angry‘ new breed of theatre. So kudos to Yang-May for persuing the idea and making it happen, because what has transpired is a fascinating and very valuable glimpse of “the old days” as per the experience of ‘Walter Plinge’, the RADA graduate who began his carrer in the mid 50’s at the Derby Playhouse.
